The heart of the Immersive Array is our titanium 1/2" omnidirectional microphone, the source of the Array's natural, coherent sound.
Typically when multiple microphones are combined, phase and frequency non-linearities collapse the depth and realism. Our linear phase and frequency microphones remain coherent and natural in both multichannel playback and when combined for binaural and stereo.

Using the IDL 7.0.4 Immersive Recording Array and microphones has been transformational for me. Recording without EQ, without compression or processing of any kind is a first. I admit it, as a cardioid freak, I had 'Fear of the Omni.' But these microphones avoid so many directional mic problems and take EQ amazingly.
The musicians can prepare and record knowing that the listener will ultimately get to listen as though they are seated in the middle of the recording session. The approach feels more honest, demands much more focused preparation, and as a result, is more authentic.
This is a beautiful way of capturing a moment, capturing an acoustics space, and capturing a performance.
It was an absolute treat to witness the immersive recording first hand. The musicians were stunning, the music was compelling and the tech did not get in the way. All was as it should be.
I was completely awe-struck by the experience of listening back to what we had just recorded with that awesome mic array, and the atmos speakers. Absolutely breath-taking.
