Humans in a Room begins with a simple idea: the most compelling immersive experience should begin with the song—not the technology.
Willy Porter’s latest album was conceived as songs and music first, then arranged and performed by musicians together, live in the studio, without overdubs, and captured direct-to-immersive. You can hear the nuances and subtilties of all of interactions along with their associated emotions.
The room is not something to be created, removed, corrected, or replaced. The room becomes part of the ensemble—an active instrument in the recording. Sound travels, reflects, blends and decays naturally as the musicians listen, react, and respond to one another in real time. Those interactions—the subtle changes in dynamics, timing, tone, timbre, resonance and emotion—become inseparable from the performance itself.
